“I might be involved with the IPL again in the future in a different role. Committing to a full season in a professional capacity is really tricky, but my heart is with RCB and always will be,” de Villiers said.

De Villiers’ numbers in the IPL speak for themselves. Over the course of 184 matches for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and RCB, he scored 5,162 runs at a strike rate of 151.68, including three centuries and 40 half-centuries.
But it was at RCB that he truly cemented his status as a legend. In his 157 matches for the franchise, he piled up 4,522 runs at an average of 41.10 and a staggering strike rate of 158.33. Who can forget the iconic 229-run partnership with Virat Kohli against Gujarat Lions in 2016? That stand remains the highest for any wicket in IPL history and a testament to the magic he brought to the field.
