CSK won the toss and opted to field, a decision that would soon be tested by GT’s formidable batting lineup.

“We’ve decided to bowl first. The pitch looks good but slightly sticky, which makes me believe it will be better to chase on this surface. The conditions here are quite similar to what we’ve experienced in the last two games in Chennai, except for one match on red soil which we didn’t favor much.
The atmosphere within the team is quite relaxed. In the IPL, it’s normal to lose several games, but it’s crucial to remain confident and ensure everyone is in a good mental state. We’ve faced some challenges with injuries and flu cases in the squad, but overall, I’m satisfied with how we’ve managed so far. For today’s match, Rachin Ravindra will come in to replace Richard Gleeson.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK Skipper

“I would have preferred to bowl first too. It’s a good wicket and it would have been ideal to know the target and then chase it down. We still have a slim chance of qualifying, about 1%, but as long as there’s a possibility, we’ll give it our all. The team’s mood is like any other match; we believe in doing the best we can.
The surface looks conducive for batting, so I’m confident we can keep them to a manageable score and then put up a good total ourselves. I don’t anticipate any dew, which could work in our favor. We’re making two changes today: Wriddhiman Saha has a niggle and will be replaced by Matthew Wade. Joshua Phillipe misses out due to team dynamics, allowing Kartik Tyagi to make his debut for us.”

” Batting in front of a large crowd definitely makes it easier; there’s a sense of freedom that comes with it. We didn’t set a specific target but aimed to maximize every opportunity presented to us.Our team has great camaraderie. We excel at running between the wickets, hitting gaps, and taking twos. We’ve batted together since last year, which has really built our understanding.
This partnership is arguably the best opening duo GT has had. Mohit has been exceptional over the past few years, both with his bowling and batting. Though he’s had a couple of off games, that happens to everyone. With a few games left, I’m confident we can turn things around. We could have reached 250 today; we were about 10-15 runs short. In the final overs, they bowled well, which affected our net run rate going forward.”

Shubman Gill, GT

The match was a testament to GT’s resilience and strategic prowess, as they outplayed CSK in all departments.

“We’ve just stuck to our process and doing little things right. Not focussing on the opponents and their records, just want to do our process right. We have to make a lot of changes due to injury concerns in the squad. I’d say losing 10 tosses but winning 5 games is a positive. Mitchell Santner comes in place of Fizz”

“The pitch for today’s game was slow, which was pretty much anticipated due to the heat affecting it during this day game. In terms of our batting, we started strong in the powerplay but struggled to maintain momentum due to a lack of partnerships in the middle overs.
I was aiming to establish a solid partnership to set up for a strong finish. As for our bowling, our pacers delivered upfront during the powerplay, with Tushar snagging two crucial wickets, and then Mitch and I managed to contain the opposition in the middle overs. Although the pitch appeared flat initially, it became challenging to play as the ball aged and didn’t come onto the bat as expected.
This being a new venue, it was tricky to predict the amount of turn or stoppage. We felt we were short by about 15-20 runs, but thankfully, our disciplined bowling in the powerplay and middle overs kept us in the game. My role as a batter is to anchor and build innings, looking to accelerate towards the end. However, when we lose early wickets, it’s challenging to regain momentum, which is critical in matches that we eventually win.”

Ravindra Jadeja, CSK

The match between PBKS and CSK was a display of cricket at its finest.

CSK’s ability to put up a fighting total and defend it successfully showcased their balanced team strength and strategic prowess.

As the teams move forward, this match will be remembered for its intense competition and Jadeja’s standout performance.

We are confident after chasing 261. We need to have courage and be brave as they are a good team, especially at home. We are going with the same side”

Sam Curran, PBKS Skipper

” We would have bowled as well, but we weren’t exactly sure. Dew plays a factor so it is tough defending, but the fact that we won by 78 runs shows a lot about the team, but we’ll be missing Pathirana’s services and also Tushar Deshpande misses out today.
Pathirana has a slight niggle and Deshpande is not well. We will look to put up a good total. so We have got Shardul in his place and Richard Gleeson makes his debut.”

“It was a good track to bowl on, and even Rahul Chahar bowled well. I have been playing for last 6 years, so my confidence has been pretty high. Now bowling to these legends of the game like MS Paji and all it feels normal, I just bowl to my strengths. To be honest, I don’t think wickets, my aim is only to bowl lots of dot balls and dot balls create the wickets. When there is spin in the wicket, the bowlers’ confidence goes up and it is a bit helpful.”

Harpreet Brar, Punjab Kings

We’re going with one extra batter, Markande misses out. We’ve always looked to bowl first, maybe dew will be a factor later in the evening.”

Even with bowling, we haven’t gotten those starts in the powerplay and sometimes when we’ve got that we haven’t been able to finish off well. Overall, we’re happy with where we are but we’re just looking to win those clutch moments”

“Feeling pretty good. Tough to play in such wet conditions, and to be able to win by 70-odd runs is a clinical performance. Was a blessing in disguise at the toss. Too hot and humid conditions. Even the last game, was there batting for 20 overs and fielding for 20 overs. Today also almost the same. Wasn’t thinking about a hundred. Wanted to make sure we get to 220-odd. Was disappointed that I missed 4-5 hits at the back end. During the innings break I felt it could make a difference and I was upset. But thankfully it was enough.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK

The match between CSK and SRH was a testament to CSK’s balanced team and their ability to perform under pressure.

“We’ve decided to bowl first. The wicket looks good, and dew hasn’t been a big factor, so hopefully, it stays that way for the entire game. We prefer knowing what we’re chasing. There weren’t any major blunders in our previous games, despite the big defeat against KKR.
We’re still pretty relaxed. I believe in maintaining a calm demeanour as a leader, as panicking can spread. Our support staff is excellent, and we’re trying to keep things as relaxed as possible. The pitches have been relaid here, so each match can bring something different. We have one change: Joseph is out, and Matt Henry comes in.”

“We would have bowled first. Batted well in the last game against MI, and defending that total was a big confidence boost for us. We don’t want to get complacent and aim to maintain consistency.
Personally, I’ve had a bit of luck with my batting, despite some unlucky dismissals in the first two matches. It feels good to be back and everyone is confident. Two changes: Mo comes in for Mitchell, and Deepak comes in for Shardul.”
